In preferences heidi is looking for mysql.exe. And in moste cases i actually want this to be present. The crash is a stream read error, and it's caused by a malformed file encoding.
Did the credentials you got include a hostname or ip address? If the credentials contain a note about localhost or 127.0.0.1,. The ssl part seems to work since i get the do you want to add this.
