You can use \par to obtain a new paragraph. We use knuth's loop to generate the line numbers. It is different from \newline or \\ which produce a line break (by the way, there is a \linebreak command, to break the line and justify the line before).
I have the following problem. We can position the box and typeset the line numbers by using thr \put command from the latex's picture environment. I have some text in a table and i want to add a forced line break.
